SUSANA L. KENIGSBERG, M.S. (IMT 4405)

Hi, I’m Susana Kenigsberg, I am a Marriage and Family Therapy Registered Intern (IMT 4405) and I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating the emotional challenges of life, health, and relationships. I specialize in Medical Family Therapy, supporting clients facing chronic illness, grief, anxiety, depression, and mental health concerns. Whether you’re struggling with relational patterns, emotional overwhelm, or a medical diagnosis impacting your family system, I provide a compassionate, collaborative space to explore healing and change.

Originally from Venezuela, I bring a multicultural and systemic lens to the therapeutic space. I’m married to my childhood sweetheart, and together we’re raising six incredible children—a journey that has deepened my understanding of parenting, partnership, and the evolving dynamics of family life. I’ve walked through my own experiences with grief, medical trauma, and healing. These moments have not only shaped who I am, but they’ve also allowed me to sit with others in their pain—with presence, empathy, and an unwavering belief in their capacity to heal.

My background includes work in education, healthcare, advocacy, and behavioral psychiatric settings, which allows me to connect with people from all walks of life. I also hold a concentration in equine-assisted therapy, which has shaped my belief that healing isn’t one-size-fits-all—sometimes it’s quiet, nonlinear, and deeply personal.

I believe in the profound connection between mind and body, and I approach therapy with the understanding that emotional struggles and physical health are deeply intertwined. Using a systemic lens, I help clients recognize how stress, illness, and relationships influence one another, and how restoring balance in one area can create positive ripple effects in the whole person and the family system.

In our work together, we won’t just address problems—we’ll explore ways to reclaim connection, purpose, and hope. My approach is collaborative, integrative, and deeply relational. I help clients identify and shift patterns that leave them feeling stuck, always honoring their role as the expert in their own lives. I offer insight, tools, and a steady presence to support your growth, discovery, and healing.

As a Medical Family Therapist, I work with a wide range of concerns, including chronic or terminal illness, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, substance use, and relational distress. I also welcome collaboration with medical professionals when appropriate, believing strongly in a whole-person, integrative model of care.

If you’re looking for a therapist who will honor your story, meet you with empathy, and help you move toward clarity and connection, I welcome you to reach out.

When things feel heavy, I will hold the hope for you—until you’re ready to carry it yourself.
